I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the chiefs and Queen Mothers, Rev. Ministers & Pastors,Party Executives, Council of Elders and Patrons, Coordinators and Polling Station Executives, Assembly Members and Unit Committee Members , Market Queens, Imams & Zongo Chiefs, Leaders of various clubs and Associations, the Media, and the entire people of Bantama constituency and all those who supported in anyway of form for coming to support our 2019 Mega Town Meeting at Kumasi Cultural on Sunday the 30th of June 2019.
For all you did – your prayers, presence and presents, I am sincerely grateful.
We invited 1,023 opinion leaders but we ended up with over 1,450 people and this demonstrates our interest in governance.
As a strong believer in Participatory Democracy, I believe the government is of the people, by the people and for the people and that is why town hall meeting has become one of the main platforms to bring governance back to our constituents in Bantama Constituency since I became the MP in 2017.
The NPP government of President Nana Addo and the ministry of information do town hall meetings all the time to carry the people of Ghana along and I believe it is a good thing.
As I said during the just ended Meeting, our 2017 town hall meetings were well received in each of the 10 electoral areas. The 2018 meetings were organised at the polling stations level but I couldn’t get to each of the 114 polling stations and so this Mega Constituency Town Hall Meeting was organised to bring every body to speed about the happenings in both our constituency and in Ghana at large especially our opinion leaders and I am happy and grateful for another successful historic event in Bantama Constituency.
Again, I am glad I was able to highlight some of the major projects that the NPP Govt. has done in its 2.5years in terms of roads, bridges, watter and sanitation projects and of course the projects in the pipeline as well in our constituency.
I believe the forum was also a great opportunity for me to share with you some of the things I have been able to do for the constituency the areas of: education, employment, good governance, welfare issues, road & bridges, common fund disclosure and accountability, role in Parliament, government and party communications, representation of my constituents, and general enhancement of the image of the constituency in Ghana’s politics and so on. Without sounding complacent, I believe I am doing my best and will continue to make you proud as your servant-leader – Okyem Aboagye – Honerable Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency.
As I said, I will use every opportunity I get to continue to Make Bantama Great. I won’t do anything to hurt the image our great constituency.
I believe we remain the most popular constituency in Ghana, we have many strengths – our location, our history, our cultural center, KATH is here, Metro Mass is here, our peace-loving religious leaders, our Market, our progressive traditional leaders, our brilliant and viabrant politicians and political “positionings” and our determination to succeed and continue our popularity and leadership – are some of our great assets. Like Ghana, what we need to progress faster is stabilty and leadership with clear vision to develop our constituency. I sincerely beleive that our current leadership in President Nana Addo and Okyem Aboagye has what is takes to help Ghana and Bantama Constituency respectively.
I believe in our current government’s ability to deliver good governance and policies to transform Ghana and once again I humbly ask for your prayers and patience to allow us to transform Ghana into a developed nation.
I also sincerely believe in the NPP party as the best and the most competent political party to deliver Ghana from the mess we inherited and to take Ghana to the promise land. We have the men.
I will continue to engage, respect and serve you well and I also ask for your prayers and patience as we journey on together to develop Ghana Beyond Aid.
Once again, I am sincerely grateful for everything. God bless you. Thank you.
