SEVEN PICKS NOMINATION FORMS TO CONTEST THE NPP PRIMARIES IN THE WALEWALE CONSTITUENCY

 

Information available to *The Voiceless Media* indicates that 7 persons have picked nomination forms to contest the NPP primaries in the Walewale Constituency come April 25th.

The Walewale Constituency is one of the oldest constituencies in the North-East region of Ghana.

It was first represented in Parliament by Lawyer Ben Baluri Saibu of the NDC in 1992.
The NDC won the seat again in 1996, 2004 and 2008.

The NPP for the first time, won the seat in election 2012 and retained it in 2016 by Dr Sagre Bambangi of the NPP.

In the 2012 Parliamentary elections, Dr Sagre had 19,328 votes to beat King James Azortibah of the NDC who had 15, 192 votes.

In the 2016 Parliamentary elections, Dr Sagre Bambangi retained the seat for the NPP by obtaining 26,431 votes whilst Alhaji Abdallah Abukari of the NDC got 23, 851 votes.

The interest in the Walewale seat has grown over the years and the Voiceless Media can confirm after our visit to the Walewale Constituency that seven persons have picked forms to contest the internal primaries.

They are Hajia Lariba Zuwera Abudu, a deputy CEO at the Northern Development Authority, Dr Suzana Aloa Aga a development communications specialist and a Board member of the Ghana Freezones Authority,
Mr Seth Panwum also known as Boyoyo of the IDIF Secretariat, lawyer Issahaku Ibrahim lives in London at the moment and King James Azortibah works with the Trade Union as an Accountant.

The rest are, Mr Yidana Zakaria is an assistant registrar at the UDS and the incumbent MP, Dr Sagre Bambangi.

It is left to be seen whether the number of Candidates will increase or decrease between now and the closing date for the picking of nomination forms.

What the Voiceless Media can confirm is that all 7 APCs are on the ground in the Walewale Constituency and marketing themselves to the delegates.
