TEMPORARY HOLD ON THE INTENDED DEMONSTRATION BY FORUM FOR ACCOUNTABILITY AND JUSTICE (FAJ)

The leadership of Forum for Accountability and Justice (FAJ), a youth group based in Savannah Region wishes to inform the general public of its resolve to temporary put on hold the intended demonstration which was slated to be staged on the 19th of July, 2019. It is recalled that, FAJ served a demonstration notice on Sunday, 14th July, 2019 and announcing its intention to stage a peaceful demonstration on the principal streets of the Savannah Regional Capital-Damongo. The group was unhappy about the deliberate silence of the Savannah Regional Coordinating on the matter in question. Coupled with this were contradictory accounts from various persons and institutions in respect of the missing vehicle which were confusing and embarrassing. This was why FAJ took the matter up and decided to mount a campaign for all stakeholders in the Savannah Region and beyond to join in ensuring the said vehicle was retrieved.

The progress made so far with the arrest of some persons, the Regional Minister’s admission of wrongdoing by ordering for the said vehicle to be parked at his friend’s residence and the statement issued by the RCC are some steps forward in the midst of the confusion. This progress notwithstanding, we are still calling on the Ghana Police Service and the SRCC to expedite actions in retrieving the Toyota Hilux Pickup as promised by the regional minister. We are still monitoring the progress of the investigations and will announce our next move if the vehicle is not found and the thieves punished according to the law.

Thank You.
