The minister in charge of LANDS AND NATURAL RESOURCES, HON KWAKWU ASOMAH-CHEREMEH on Thursday September 20th 2018, received an amount of $13m from CHIRANO GOLDFIELDS AND CO as dividend for same to be sent to the ministry of finance.
Also, UK Prime Minister’s Envoy on Trade who doubles as a Ghanaian Messrs ADAM AFRIYIE (MP) and the Uk High Commissioner to Ghana called on the Sector Minister.
In his remarks, the Hon. Minister, KWAKU ASOMAH-CHEREMEH said ” Ghana has a lot of opportunities in the Mining, petroleum and Agriculture sectors, however these opportunities have some problems which needs interventions from the UK to help reform the sectors”.
The minister further iterated government’s resolve to bringing lasting solutions to the problems bedeviling the lands and natural resources sector of the economy.
He again, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to clampdown illegal miners and land encroaches but was quick to add that, government is streamlining the sector and creating alternative avenues for those affected to have a befitting livelihood.
