He was the Director-General of Ghana’s National Security Council’s National Signals Bureau (NSB). He served as the Deputy Director before this appointment and previously held the roles of Head of Core Network, Head of Planning and IT, and Head of Network Operations.

International Experience: Prior to joining the NSB, Adu-Boahene worked as a Lead Support Engineer for Assured Systems Limited and as the Head of Information Systems Support Services for Atkins Global PLC, both of which were headquartered in the United Kingdom.

Adu-Boahene was instrumental in improving national security, emergency preparedness, and response during his career by helping to establish integrated secure communications networks throughout Ghana. Notably, since 2008, he has overseen the communications network supporting Ghana’s general elections.

Legal Difficulties

In March 2025, Adu-Boahene faced legal scrutiny when he was arrested on charges including embezzlement, fraud, and illicit financial transactions. Investigations showed that during his time at the NSB, he allegedly transferred about GHS 49 million (roughly $7 million) from state funds into personal accounts. Under the guise of payments for cyber defence systems, these funds were allegedly transferred to his private company, BNC Communications Bureau Limited, which he and his wife co-own.
