Kotoko gain walkover in Confederation Cup

The Ghana Premier League giants are through to the next round of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have gained a walkover to the next stage of the competition after the Cameroonian FA failed to submit a club on the Confederation of African Football deadline day.

The Porcupine Warriors will know their opponent in the round of 16 after the preliminary round which starts on Tuesday.

The CAF official statement reads “Matches #37&38 are cancelled, because the deadline for @FecafootOfficie to confirm the engagement of second rep. for Total CAF Confederation Cup has elapsed.”

“Asante Kotoko is therefore qualified to the 1/16th round.”

It was earlier reported that the Cameroonian FA have submitted Eding Sports as the rep for the CAF Confederation Cup.

Asante Kotoko will now face the winner of Arta Solar 7 of Djibouti and Kariobangi Sharks FC of Kenya in the second round of the CAF Confederations Cup after getting a walkover due to the Cameroonian FA (FECAFOOT) not able to produce a second representative for the CAF Confederations Cup.
