JIU JITSU LAUNCHED IN BONO,BONO EAST AND AHAFO REGIONS

Ghana Jiu Jitsu Federation yesterday at Sunyani launched the sporting discipline in three regions,Bono, Bono East and Ahafo for Jiu Jitsu to take effect in the regions.
Jiu Jitsu is an exciting and intriguing sports which is martial art sport similar to judo,first started at all battlefield at Sumarai in Japan and has spread across the world.
The Japan invented sport has different categories which include Adapted Jiu Jitsu eligibility which determines an athlete’s disability before partaking in the sport.
Purpose of the sport is to eradicate streetism through sports program, provide ways of protecting oneself from criminals and also as a profession to participants just like football and other sporting disciplines.
The President of the Ghana Jiu Jitsu Federation,Mr.Maxwell Borquaye, Public Relations Officer, Benny Johnson ,National Organizer, Philip Tetteh Nartey and National Treasurer, Lucy Larteef were present at the colourful event to inaugurate the newly appointed executive members of the three regions.
Nine member committee was inaugurated to steer the affairs of Jiu Jitsu in the three regions to make the sports attractive to all persons.The members include Gabriel Akorsah Bobbie ,Kingsley Abayie, Michael Appiah Agyekum, Rita Adu,Leticia Agyeiwaa, Precious Semevoh,William Amankona Kyere,Benjamin Ameyaw and Sasu Danquah.
The President of Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions in his speech implored members of the association to work assiduously to create massive awareness for Jiu Jitsu sport.
The august occasion was graced by the Akyempemhene of Sunyani Traditional Council,Nana Attah Boahen.
Other dignitaries include Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association Chairman , Augustine Asante, Sunyani Senior High School Headmaster, Michael Nsiah Agyapong, and Administrator of National Sports Authority, Ruth Quarcoo.

The maiden competition was held at Sunyani Coronation park which saw a number of school children participating.Winners of the various categories were given medals and certificate.
