Ghanaians In Spain Rally For Removal of Ghanaian Ambassador To Spain

Scores of Ghanaians living in Spain are calling for the immediate removal from office Madam Elizabeth Adjei, Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain.

They have raised allegations that the administrative delivery of the Ambassador at the Embassy is tinted with bribery and corruption and that the prolonged prevailence of the canker has imposed a great challenge on a number of Ghanaians living in the country.

Charges are that, the Ambassador is denying a number of Ghanaians residing in Spain flexible conditions attached to the normal processing of passport to secure their stay in the country.

Per their allegation, the Ambassador charges between 300 to 500 Euros for the acquisition of a passport.

The amount according to them is too expensive unlike that of other African countries.

They again fingered that the Ambassador as a way of championing her personal interest has formed an organisation called “Ghana Union” and that before a Ghanaian can acquire a passport, he or she is told to register with the Union.

All Ghanaians who visit the office of the Ambassador for a passport per information gathered are always directed to first of all pick a form from the chairman of the Union at a cost of 30 Euros without receipt.

Speaking on behalf of affected Ghanaian residents in Spain, President for Coalition for Human Rights, an advocacy group, Mr. Opoku Boateng Duncan explained in a press conference held in Kumasi that the payment of 30 Euros for the issuance of the forms does not even cover the cost of the passport.

“Before a passport in given, one needs to pay about of 500 Euros aside all the other huge amounts paid earlier by them” he exposed.

Mr. Boateng Duncan who is know as an outspoken advocate continued that the Ambassador Madam Elizabeth Agyei deliberately delays passport applicants for a period close to six months before the passport is announced ready.

Mr. Boateng Opoku Duncan clenched his fist in anger when he touched on how passport applicants are told to switch off their phones whenever they visit the embassy to secure passports

“Why should they switch off their phones at the passport office? What is the woman afraid of?” he expressed in anger during the press briefing.

“The official language spoken in Spain is Spanish but whenever a Ghanaian goes to the embassy to process a passport, they are forced to speak English else the ambassador and her workers will throw you out like a goat. I just don’t understand this woman” he added.

According to Mr. Boateng Duncan, Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain Madam Elizabeth “is behaving as if she is not part of Akuffo Addo’s government”.

He made a damning expose that the Ambassador uses her outfit to issue passport to Nigerians at a faster pace and at a moderate rate.
