The Ghana Air Traffic Safety Electronics Association (GhATSEA) has called a statewide strike; however, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has reassured the public, airlines, and aviation stakeholders that flights within Ghana’s airspace will continue safely and dependably.

GCAA guarantees that flights will continue to be safe and uninterrupted despite the strike by air traffic staff.

Beginning Thursday, October 30, 2025, GhATSEA, the organisation that represents Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEPs), announced an indefinite industrial action.

The association said the decision followed over fifteen (15) years of unresolved welfare issues, unfair salary structures, and inequitable job placements within the GCAA.

GCAA acknowledged in a statement on Tuesday that it has implemented extensive contingency preparations to guarantee the safe, dependable, and secure continuation of air traffic services throughout the Accra Flight Information Region (FIR).

The Authority clarified that management had foreseen the strike threat for a considerable amount of time and had taken proactive measures to lessen its potential effects. It said:Management created and implemented a CNS/ATM Systems Contingency Plan in advance of this industrial danger in order to preserve operational continuity and avoid delays to both domestic and international flights.

In order to ensure aviation safety and service delivery during the strike period, the GCAA claims that the contingency plan consists of specific operational procedures, response teams, and coordination mechanisms.

Additionally, the Authority asked travellers, airlines, and industry participants to maintain composure and faith in the safety protocols in place. It also stated:

Therefore, the Authority calls on all parties involved, airlines, and travellers to maintain composure and guarantee continuous operations.The GCAA reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining the highest levels of air navigation service and guaranteeing the safety and security of all aircraft inside Ghana’s airspace, as part of its ongoing commitment to excellence. Additionally, it thanked its employees and promised to keep promoting their welfare and professional growth.

Reaffirming its commitment to excellence, the GCAA stated that it remains dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of air navigation service and ensuring the safety and security of all flights within Ghana’s airspace. It also expressed appreciation for its staff and pledged to continue supporting professional development and welfare.
