EJURA NPP SECRETARY BEGS ASHANTI REGION NPP FOR MERCY

Ms Gifty Ndoma, Ejura Sekyedumase NPP constituency secretary, is the next to follow Manaf Ibrahim, an aide to the vice President, to render an apology to the Ashanti Regional Executive Committee of the NPP.

In the lead up to the vetting of aspirants in the orphan constituencies, the regional party issued a directive to bar all interested persons from contesting MCEs in the orphan constituencies of the region, a move that sparked agitations among party members. A group calling itself Patriotic Youth Alliance, vociferously, criticised the party for taking such an “autocratic” decision.

Manaf and Gifty, however, defied the directive of the regional party and proceeded to pick and file nomination at the national headquarters. Subsequently, the embattled duo were handed suspension on grounds of misconduct.

When the list of cleared aspirants were released after the vetting by the party, the two embattled party faithfuls were excluded from the list. They, in accordance with the rules, filed an appeal at the National Parliamentary Appeals Committee.

Earlier this week, the committee presented it’s report to NEC without a clear decision on the duo. After a meeting to consider the report of the NPAC, NEC issued a statement asking Gifty and Manaf to apologise publicly in order to be reconsidered.

Manaf Ibrahim was the first to apologise publicly and begged for clemency. In a leaked letter, which has gone viral on social media, Gifty Ndoma, appears to have followed suit. What is not clear, however, is that, the letter, appears to have been written long before the decision of NEC. See a copy of the letter below –
