Bagbin’s actions are a part of the NDC’s plan to hold onto the Speakership if given the chance. Afenyo-Markin

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin is allegedly conspiring with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to discredit the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in an attempt to win a second term as Speaker in the event that the NDC wins majority power, according to Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

Afenyo-Markin asserted during an appearance on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo program that Bagbin’s actions, which he characterized as disruptive, are intended to undermine the government and cause instability in legislative proceedings.

If the NDC wins a majority, the Speaker, who is a member of the party, plans to serve another term. Afenyo-Markin claimed that everything he is doing is part of a planned plot with the NDC.

He claims that Speaker Alban Bagbin and the NDC are making every effort to get NPP MPs to respond and accuse the ruling party of being unruly and unsuited to lead.

“The playbook is the same as before. They intended for him to adjourn sine die as soon as they entered the room. They have done it, regardless of the justification or explanation.

They intended to declare a few seats open, then swiftly move to our side. When we face them, they will claim that Ghana is in turmoil and everything. That’s precisely what they’re doing,” he said.
