Asantehene is praised by IGP as the “King Solomon of our time” for his efforts to promote peace.

Speaking at Police Headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, during the esteemed monarch’s courtesy visit to the Ghana Police Service, the IGP stated that Otumfuo’s mediation strategy had reduced the workload for security agencies and restored calm to difficult areas.

Mr Yohuno pointed out that the Asantehene’s tolerance and moral authority were crucial in resolving numerous long-standing conflicts that had previously presented significant risks to the stability of the country.

The IGP declared, “I am compelled to refer to you as the King Solomon of our time because of your extraordinary mediation skills, which have restored peace in numerous conflicts across our nation.”

The police chief specifically mentioned Otumfuo’s contribution to the resolution of the Dagbon chieftaincy problem and his efforts to promote peace in Yendi and Bawku.

He claimed that these efforts made the public safer and made it possible for the police to work more efficiently without having to deal with intercommunal conflict all the time.

The Asante monarch, prominent police officials, traditional elders, and members of the Police Management Board were all present. Otumfuo was formally welcomed by senior Ghana Police Service officers, who also informed him on new initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety and crime prevention.

The IGP conveyed gratitude in his speech for the Asantehene’s ongoing support of law enforcement over the years.

“You have shown exemplary and fatherly support for the Ghana Police Service.” I remember that you’ve welcomed a number of IGPs and police leadership, providing us with support, direction, and counselling while keeping your doors open,” he remarked.

Many people saw the Asantehene’s appearance at Police Headquarters as a significant step towards strengthening ties between state security organisations and traditional authority.

According to officials, the involvement shows a rising dedication to collaborative leadership, in which security agencies and chiefs cooperate to uphold peace and safeguard people and property.

At the conclusion of the historic meeting, both parties pledged to keep fostering collaborations and developing trust for Ghana’s benefit.
