Agogo: Confusion rocks NPP over Former MP

There is seeming tension in the Asante Akim North Constituency of the Ashanti Region as some constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are up in arms against the former Member of Parliament in the area.

Ahead of the party’s parliamentary primaries, the party has barred Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang who is also the Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority from contesting the elections.

Part of seclusion notice from the party executives in the area signed by the Constituency Secretary, Mr. Aboagye Boateng Williams and available to MyNewsGh.com accused him of showing disrespect to the executives.

It reads in part “You [as Board Chair of the National Sports Authority] stated your unavailability as a result of your tight schedule and the national assignment you are supposed to attend to which coincided with our scheduled date”.

Notwithstanding the excuse you presented, you also showed your unwillingness and lack of trust to meet and deal with the constituency executives”.

“However, as per the party’s organization and conduct, the constituency executive committee have every legitimate right and mandate to invite any person who falls within the jurisdiction of the constituency for interrogations, enquiries or clarification as and when it is deemed appropriate; which you are of no exception”

“The entire constituency executives [therefore] find it imperative to seclude you from all party activities within the constituency until a final determination of the matter or as may be determined upon further deliberations by the constituency executives”

Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang has been unavailable for comment but sources indicate that he intends pursing the matter to its logical conclusion with suspicion that some persons averse to competition were behind this move to thwart his comeback.
