Actor Dejumo Lewis of Nigeria passed away.

The death of seasoned actor Dejumo Lewis has been reported by Nollywood star Saidi Balogun.

 

Mr. Lewis passed away at the age of 80. On Saturday, Mr. Balogun posted a post on his Instagram page confirming his departure.

The actor who rose to fame for his performance in “The Village Teacher” passed away, although the reason of death is still unknown.

Upon hearing about Mr. Balogun’s tribute, fans and fellow actors and actresses in the profession have showered their condolences.

Actors, actresses, and admirers of the deceased praised him as an amazing performer in the post’s comments section.

They went on to say that they would always remember his part in the longest-running Nigerian sitcom, “The Village Teacher.” In addition, they sent their condolences for the late actor’s eternal rest and strength to help his bereaved family.

In The Village Headmaster, Nigeria’s longest-running television soap opera that aired on NTA from 1968 to 1988, Mr. Lewis returned to his Kabiyesi role.

Background

Mr. Lewis, who was born in 1943, rose to fame as Kabiyesi in The Village Headmaster, the longest-running television soap opera in Nigeria, which aired on NTA from 1968 to 1988 and included a number of notable actors, including Justus Esiri and Femi Robinson.

In 2021, the well-liked comedy-drama series that aired on NTA made a comeback to the screen thirty years after it had aired.

It happened after the NTA and Wale Adenuga Productions (WAP) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formally launching a collaboration to revive the venerable drama series.

In the beloved series that is currently produced by WAP, the late actor played Kabiyesi once again.
