The Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore Constituency in the Ashanti region Hon. Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie has presented a Physical Cash of Fifteen Thousand Ghana Cedis (15,000.00) to a contractor working on a Rural Electrification project that has been abandoned by the Sekyere East District Assembly over lack of funds to completes the projects.

Over ten (10) communities in the District will benefits from the rural electrification project that has abandoned for many years by the Sekyere East District Assembly

The Member of Parliament for the area Hon. Dr. Ayew Afriyie speaking to Media after officially handing over the cheque to the contractor indicated that, government have able to provide all the materials that will need for the electrification project but left with the District Assembly to signed the MP common fund to release money for the contractor to do commence work, the assembly have refused to signed the document to release the money to the contractor, so am using my own pocket money which is Ghc150 million to pay the contractor to start work for the good of people of Bouya and it environs to get electricity.

According to him, the residents of Bouya and other communities are threatening not to votes on the coming 2020 Parliamentary and Presidential elections if they didn’t get access to electricity.

Dr. Ayew added that, the major concerns by the residents is due to lack of electricity in the community is that, they cannot listen to radio and watch President Nana Addo on Tv to know what is going on the global Pandemic Corona virus. They is a need for me as an MP to pay the money for the contractor to begin work for them also to enjoy electricity whiles the assembly is not ready to release money.

Moreover, some of the residents at Bouya expressed their profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie for paying the contractor to commence work on the abandoned rural electrification project and urged the delegates in Sekyere East Constituency to votes massively for him to continue his good work.
