The Assembly member for the Ahinsan-Estate electoral area, Nana Yaw Wiredu says it is crucial that schools in communities are upgraded to make them look conducive for teaching and learning.

According to the Asokwa Municipal Assembly legislator, provision of better school infrastructure as well as other ancillary facilities is a contributory factor to helping pupils get good education.

Speaking to this reporter Wednesday morning when he delivered 15 bags of cement to the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Junior High School, Hon Wiredu said he was committed to using his good offices to get support for schools in the community.

The assembly member promised to continue his periodic visits to schools in the Ahinsan-Estate community to learn of problems each of the schools might be facing.

‘’I am committed to using my offices to lobby for projects in schools in this community and just as I saw that the canteen in Good Shepherd School was not in good shape I will also visit others to see for myself where we can support with similar gestures’’, Hon Nana Yaw stressed.


On security, the assembly member noted his commitment to ensuring both the lives of people and properties are safe in Ahinsan-Estate.

According to him, the security of residents of the community is important than anything else.

He noted that people can only contribute to the development of the community when they feel safe secure to do so.

He announced the decision by his outfit to construct a police post at the community to ensure the Police are visible at all times as well as provide protection for residents.

‘’I am happy to announce that a police post we are constructing for the community is about 70% complete and I am hopeful that with its completion residents will feel more safer than earlier even though security is a shared responsibility’’, the local legislator noted.


Mr Emmanuel Oblitey, Assistant Headmaster at Good Shepherd School thanked the assembly member for the kind gesture.

He noted the school was overwhelmed with the sense of generosity demonstrated by the member of the Asokwa Municipal Assembly.

Mr Oblitey urged other individuals as well as corporate organizations in the community to emulate the example of Hon Wiredu.

Such gestures, the Assistant Head said encourages as well as supports school administrations to give theirir best for pupils in school.
