Otumfour Osei Tutu II Has Exhibited Extraordinary Leadership.
I join the world to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the enstoolment of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as the Kingdom’s 16th Asantehene last Sunday, April 21, 2019.
Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II has indeed served not just Asanteman but the Ghanaian people and Africa as a whole with his visionary leadership, selflessness and respect for people whether they were his subjects or not.
As a random instance of your many good works, the Otumfour Education Fund, which you established in your earlier days as King, today still, supports brilliant but needy students to pursue formal education to the betterment of the nation Ghana.
It is not surprising that this year alone you have launched a US $100 million Asanteman Development Fund towards the development of the Asante Kingdom.
At the Anniversary Durbar yesterday, your esteemed spouse, Lady Julia Osei Tutu who has guided your rule with love said she admires you for your caring heart, your kindness and humility and your desire to still find time for family affairs in spite of your busy schedule. She witnessed to the world how you have served Asanteman with dignity, warmth, generosity and dedication.
Indeed, she was very true with every word because those qualities are what we know you have exhibited as the leader of Asanteman. Asanteman and Ghana is thankful to and for you.
Former President Rawlings talked about your relationship with the leadership of various political parties which he believed has contributed to the political development of the country and your kind intervention on major political issues without allowing an allure of political bias to cloud the better judgement and I believe this is a good feature of leadership.
On behalf of the students of Ghana, I wish you the best in the years ahead and may the good Lord continue to grant you life and wisdom for the positive journey ahead of you.
You are loved.
