Women in their 9th month of pregnancy need more sex – Midwife

A Senior Midwife at the Achimota Hospital Maame Akosua Asante says pregnant women in their ninth month of pregnancy need more sex.

According to her, there is a hormone in the sperm which helps speed up labour hence her advice.

“Women who are almost due for labour need more sex, especially if they have no complications

“Sex at this stage of the pregnancy is very essential and we encourage the men to have more sex with their pregnant partners if they are comfortable,” she advised.

She added that men must offer emotional support to their pregnant partners by attending antenatal classes with them; encourage the women; help them with house chores and not send them to their mothers during the period.

“The men must attend antenatal classes with their women. In fact, to encourage the men to do so we attend quickly to such couple in some of the hospitals”.

“This is the time pregnant women need support from their men by way of giving them compliments especially with the changes with their bodies”.

Madame Akosua also advised that men must help shave their pregnant partners, accompany the women to shop for the would-be baby and be present at the labour ward to encourage their women to deliver safely.

She was speaking on The Role of Men in Pregnancy on Nyinsen Ne Awo) which airs on Adom FM every Sunday between 8:00-9: 00 PM
